This is the story of Asa Lee Perkins, the King of Rockabilly. When he’s not on stage or in front of a camera, he is doing his damndest to bring down the mobs’ drug trade. Obsessed with everyone else’s addictions, he is oblivious to his own.
THE STORY : In Chapter #1, "Guitar Man," we meet a young Asa Lee Perkins. He is a rising star on the Rockabilly music circuit. A riotous mix of Country Western and Rhythm & Blues, Rockabilly is taking its hold on the kids of America, and no one does it better than the Hillbilly Cat himself! Suddenly thrust into the rough surroundings of Honky Tonks and Bootleg Joints, he discovers a wider but much darker world than he was used to back in Jackson, Tennessee. Wild women and rowdy rednecks he was used to, but not the underworld of drug addiction. That was new.
His talent and charisma eventually bring him to Hollywood, where he soon discovers that the "tinsel" in Tinseltown doesn't show the tarnish hidden underneath. Asa Lee Perkins, now a movie star, sees enough friends and colleagues succumb to drug use until he's had enough.
In Issue #2 Asa Lee Perkins, "The King Of Rockabilly", continues his war against the drug lords of Hollywood. It's the start of the 1960's, an explosion of drug use is just around the corner. With the help of his bandmates Rusty and Junior, as well as his army buddy Oscar Lopez, Asa takes the fight face to face with the mob bosses getting fat off the corpses of addicts.
Amidst the violence, romance blooms. But who will Asa choose? Kim McAvie, his red-headed co-star who proves a perfect match to his talent? Or will it be the teenage sweetheart he left behind in Germany?
In Issue #3 Asa Lee Perkins, "The King Of Rockabilly", continues his war against the drug lords of Hollywood. It is the late-60's and Asa is now a married man. Responsibilities of home, Hollywood and his undercover work are taking their toll. An explosion of drug use is sweeping the country as Asa's own addictions grow. The mystery continues as to WHO or WHAT is "THE DEVIL IN DISGUISE"!
